Album Notes & Community Reviews

A stunning cross-cultural collaboration, this album pairs the traditional, unadorned vocal stylings of Norwegian folk singer Agnes Buen Garn氓s with the modern atmospheric jazz of saxophonist Jan Garbarek. Utilizing digital synthesizers and sparse, meditative percussion, Garbarek builds an icy, ethereal backdrop for centuries-old medieval ballads. The pristine ECM production perfectly highlights the record's profound sense of Nordic mystery.
