Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Extensions', pianist Ahmad Jamal pushes far beyond the elegant, spacious trio music that defined his early career, exploring deeper, more challenging post-bop and avant-garde territories. The album features complex extended compositions and profound dynamic shifts, supported by the intricate interplay of bassist Jamil Nasser and drummer Vernel Fournier. It reveals a surprisingly intense, exploratory side of Jamal's legendary musical vocabulary.
