Album Notes & Community Reviews

An incredibly fierce and inventive debut from the avant-garde trio composed of Henry Threadgill, Fred Hopkins, and Steve McCall. Blending complex, highly structured modern creative composition with explosive bursts of free-jazz improvisation, the ensemble radically reconfigured the saxophone-trio format. The deeply anxious, acoustic interplay solidified their standing at the forefront of the Chicago AACM movement.
