Album Notes & Community Reviews
Produced by studio heavyweight Alan Parsons, 'Modern Times' refined Al Stewart's transition from acoustic British folk into highly polished, historically literate soft rock. The album effectively served as the sonic blueprint for his impending massive commercial breakthrough on 'Year of the Cat', highlighted by elegant string arrangements and evocative, literary lyricism.
