Album Notes & Community Reviews
Stepping out of the shadows of the French pop industry, 'Roulette russe' marks Alain Bashung's artistic awakening alongside lyricist Boris Bergman. The album incorporates driving rock and roll and sharp new wave rhythms into traditional chanson, creating a distinctly dark, modern, and urban aesthetic. It signaled the arrival of one of France's most important, continuously evolving contemporary artists.
