Skillfullness

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Skillfullness' is a potent blend of spiritual intensity and avant-garde improvisation. nspired by the Buddhist concept of "skillful means," the album features two extended pieces, "Skillfullness" and "Solestrial," moving from intimate trio interplay to a larger, conducted ensemble featuring flute, piano, organ, vibraphone, and percussion, prefiguring Butch Morris's conduction techniques. Silva's virtuosity on violin, cello, and piano anchors the album's mystical and energetic soundscapes, reflecting the revolutionary collective improvisation of John Coltrane's 'Ascension' while forging a unique and powerful path forward.
