Initially released for free on the artist's website, this debut introduces a brilliantly sleazy, failed-entertainer persona backed by primitive synthesizer loops and drum machines. The deadpan, deeply cynical character studies became a sleeper underground hit, eventually earning a wider reissue through Secretly Canadian.
