Album Notes & Community Reviews
A foundational document of the British blues boom, 'R&B From the Marquee' was actually recorded at Decca Studios rather than live at the eponymous venue. It features an array of seminal musicians, including Dick Heckstall-Smith and Cyril Davies, who would go on to shape the UK rhythm and blues scene. The album's gritty reverence for Chicago blues templates heavily influenced the incoming wave of British rock bands.
