Album Notes & Community Reviews

Heavily gripped by severe alcoholism during recording, the shock rocker delivers a wildly eclectic concept album based on the aesthetic of a 1940s hardboiled detective. Stepping away from pure horror theatrics, the project incorporates jarring pastiches of country music, Hollywood orchestrations, and slick pop ballads. The massive success of the sentimental ballad 'You and Me' stood in stark contrast to the singer's rapid personal deterioration, which resulted in his institutionalization shortly after the tour.
