Album Notes & Community Reviews
On 'Happiness Is Going to Get You', Allie X pivots from the rigid synth-pop of its predecessor to an airier, more relaxed art-pop sound that draws on '90s and early-aughts influences. Composed primarily on piano, the self-produced record weaves baroque instrumentation with shimmering digital production, creating a fantastical and cosmopolitan soundscape. The album's lyrical themes of nostalgia, hope, and dread are explored through the conceptual persona of "The Infant Marie," anchoring the musical extravagance with sharp, self-analytical songwriting.
