Antisocialites

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Antisocialites', Alvvays expands its signature jangle-pop with fuller, more spacious arrangements and a warm synth sheen, a sonic evolution achieved by recording with both digital software and an 8-track tape machine. Molly Rankin's songwriting adopts a lyrically darker and more uneasy tone through a 'fantasy breakup arc' that explores themes of romantic detachment and solitude while retaining a sharp, witty pop sensibility. The album's accomplished songwriting and layered production earned widespread critical praise, winning the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and a short-list nomination for the Polaris Music Prize.
