Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring a stripped-down trio format alongside guitarist Bill Frisell and drummer Herlin Riley, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire delivers an exceptionally patient and spacious recording. 'Owl Song' abandons the fiery post-bop intensity of his previous work for profound stillness, allowing individual notes to decay into near silence. The album functions as a hauntingly beautiful, deeply conversational exercise in minimalist jazz improvisation.
