Album Notes & Community Reviews
Attempting to reverse their slide into soft-rock complacency, the California quartet reunited with producer James Guthrie for a heavier, more complex final studio album. 'Road Island' actively reincorporates the demanding progressive rock and art-pop arrangements that defined their earliest work. Featuring cover art painted by Ralph Steadman, the record achieved cult appreciation despite failing to resonate with their established radio audience.
