Following years of intensely personal, lo-fi recording, Damon McMahon fully embraced expansive, 1980s heartland rock and highly polished psychedelic pop. Heavily exploring themes of masculinity and personal reinvention, the deeply melancholic, incredibly groovy record was widely celebrated as a masterful, accessible breakthrough for the underground veteran. The pristine production and massive hooks brought him to a significantly wider indie audience.
