Concluding a trilogy of concept albums based on the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, this record focuses on the story of the mythological smith Ilmarinen. The album perfectly balances the group's progressive death metal roots with soaring, highly accessible clean vocal choruses and prominent keyboard melodies. It is widely considered the creative peak of their modern, Tomi Joutsen-fronted era.
