Music of George Gershwin

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Applying his signature lush, sweeping orchestrations to the Great American Songbook, Andre Kostelanetz elevates Gershwin's popular melodies to symphonic scale. The recordings emphasize massive string sections and deeply romantic phrasing, bridging the gap between Broadway jazz and the concert hall. It was a highly successful formula that dominated the mid-century easy listening and classical crossover markets.
