Album Notes & Community Reviews

The acclaimed multi-instrumentalist delivers a remarkably intimate, primarily acoustic album entirely dedicated to reinterpreting the songs of the legendary alt-country duo The Handsome Family. 'Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of...' largely avoids Bird's signature complex looping techniques, focusing entirely on gentle acoustic guitar playing and his beautifully pure, highly emotional vocal deliveries. The result is a wonderfully peaceful, incredibly pastoral, and beautifully bittersweet covers record.
