Album Notes & Community Reviews

Iconoclastic pianist Andrew Hill leads a highly responsive trio featuring Alan Silva on bass and Freddie Waits on drums on 'Strange Serenade'. Recorded for the Italian Soul Note label, the album highlights Hill's profoundly angular, dissonant compositional style and unpredictable rhythmic phrasing. It is a masterful, deeply intellectual continuation of his avant-garde legacy beyond his classic Blue Note era.
