Album Notes & Community Reviews
Acting as a massive commercial breakthrough that redefined contemporary R&B, 'Rapture' actively rejected the synth-heavy pop trends of its era. Instead, Baker relies on lush, jazz-inflected instrumentation to support her deeply soulful, husky contralto, resulting in a timeless, sophisticated adult contemporary masterpiece.
