Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing her famously percussive, highly horn-like phrasing in a relaxed, intimate studio setting, the fiercely independent vocalist delivers a masterclass in modern jazz singing. Accompanied by a superb rhythm section, her incredibly hip, deeply swinging interpretations of classic standards completely eschew saccharine pop sentimentality in favor of genuine, instrumental-level improvisation.
