Album Notes & Community Reviews

Firmly establishing her post-big band legacy, this compilation highlights the singer's intensely rhythmic, almost instrumental approach to vocal improvisation. Anita O'Day deconstructs popular standards with rapid-fire phrasing and a famously dry tone, supported by tight, modern jazz ensembles. The album is a testament to her position as one of the most intellectually daring vocalists of the era.
