Released as an ambitious double album, the critically acclaimed project highlights Anna Webber's distinct compositional voice across two very different ensemble formats: a smaller trio and a sprawling, 12-piece big band. 'Idiom' utilizes complex, post-minimalist structures derived from woodwind overtones and advanced extended techniques, resulting in incredibly dense, playful jazz arrangements. It is widely considered a monumental achievement in contemporary avant-garde composition.
