Album Notes & Community Reviews

A radical sonic and thematic shift from her orchestral work as Antony and the Johnsons, 'Hopelessness' is a fiercely political electronic album. Collaborating with producers Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never, ANOHNI creates a sound that is both grand and abrasive. The album's power lies in its stark lyrical dissonance, pairing lush, danceable electropop arrangements with brutally direct lyrics about drone warfare, ecocide, and government surveillance.
