Album Notes & Community Reviews
Stepping momentarily away from fierce free jazz polemics, the legendary saxophonist engaged with highly accessible soul-jazz and burgeoning funk grooves. The sessions feature an expansive ensemble, incorporating prominent vocal performances and tight, rhythmic vamps alongside his unmistakably gritty horn work. The recording remains a fascinating, deeply soulful bridge between his avant-garde roots and broader commercial appeal.
