Album Notes & Community Reviews

Attempting to capitalize on mainstream pop markets, 'The Tender, the Moving, the Swinging Aretha Franklin' presents a highly produced, heavily orchestrated sound under Columbia's direction. While it successfully demonstrates her remarkable vocal dexterity, the material leans towards adult contemporary rather than the soulful R&B she truly desired to record. It remains a fascinating glimpse into the label's struggle to properly market her undeniable talent.
