Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted by Herbert von Karajan, this recording brilliantly showcases two vastly different eras of Arnold Schoenberg's compositional development. The lush, post-romantic tonal beauty of 'Verklärte Nacht' is starkly contrasted with the rigorous, pioneering twelve-tone serialism of his 'Variations for Orchestra'.
