Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in New York by the legendary architect of the modern conjunto format, this record highlights deep, Afro-Cuban percussive roots. The interplay between the tres guitar and complex conga rhythms strips back commercial big band polish to reveal a heavier, more hypnotic groove. 'Primitivo' stands as an authoritative statement from a foundational figure during a period of rapidly shifting Latin music trends.
