Album Notes & Community Reviews

A stellar live album recorded at the legendary Birdland club in New York City, 'Ugetsu' captures one of the most powerful lineups of the Jazz Messengers at the top of their game. The session is a perfect balance of sophisticated arrangements and fiery, high-energy improvisation, featuring brilliant work from Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, and Curtis Fuller, all driven by Blakey's explosive drumming. It's a definitive document of live hard bop.
