Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted by Hermann Scherchen, this recording vividly brings to life Arthur Honegger's famous 'mouvement symphonique' dedicated to the steam locomotive. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra executes the brutal, accelerating rhythms and mechanical dissonance with thrilling precision. It effectively captures the modernist obsession with industrial power and speed that characterized early 20th-century European avant-garde composition.
