Following the departure of founding guitarist Steve Howe, the progressive rock supergroup recruited Mandy Meyer and pivoted toward a markedly heavier, more synthesized arena rock sound. 'Astra' utilizes dense layers of digital keyboards and bombastic drum programming, moving further away from the intricate musicianship that defined their debut. Despite achieving a moderate hit with 'Go', the album's commercial underperformance led to the band's temporary dissolution shortly after its release.
