Unquestionable Presence

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Atheist's second album, 'Unquestionable Presence', is a landmark of technical death metal that weaves intricate, jazz-fusion harmonies and Latin rhythms into a death metal framework. The album is defined by its virtuosic musicianship, featuring constantly shifting time signatures, nimble guitar work, and the prominent, complex bass performance of Tony Choy, who recorded the influential parts written by original bassist Roger Patterson prior to his death. Produced by Scott Burns, the recording captures a dense and compositionally ambitious sound that set a new benchmark for progressive and technical metal.
