Album Notes & Community Reviews

Ayuo Takahashi's 'Izutsu', his first album for Tzadik in the United States, is a music-theatre composition based on the medieval Japanese Noh play by Zeami. Ayuo, a guitarist and composer whose work balances Japanese tradition against psychedelic folk, improvisation and classical composition, builds the piece from gagaku-inflected textures and his distinctive Eurasian musical vocabulary.
