The album perfectly blends the energetic, strummed aesthetics of early jangle pop with incredibly poetic, bittersweet lyricism and a distinct bossa nova influence. 'High Land, Hard Rain' remains a remarkably melodic, warmly romantic, and highly sophisticated classic of the Postcard Records era.
