Album Notes & Community Reviews
Produced by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, 'Knife' polished the raw, acoustic charm of Roddy Frame's earlier work into a pristine, sophisticated pop sound. The intricate guitar arrangements and ambitious song structures, including the sprawling title track, highlight Frame's rapid maturation as a songwriter. Despite polarizing early indie purists, the record achieved substantial commercial success in the UK.
