Sings Spirituals

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Briefly stepping completely away from the secular R&B charts, the legendary bluesman returns to his foundational roots with a collection dedicated entirely to traditional gospel hymns. 'Sings Spirituals' replaces his signature stinging guitar lines with soaring, intensely impassioned vocal performances and heavy, church-style organ accompaniment. The deeply emotional project highlights the profound, inextricable stylistic links between Saturday night urban blues and Sunday morning religious fervor.
