The quartet of Jason Maldini, Darren White, Dan Stein and Michael Wojcicki formed from the Renegade Hardware acts Future Forces Inc. and Absolute Zero, and their debut album sold over 30,000 copies, exceptional for drum and bass. 'The Nine' had launched their own label two years earlier, and tracks like 'Colonies' fuse orchestral strings with the group's signature bass pressure.
