Shadow on Everything
by Bambara
Relocating from Georgia to Brooklyn, the post-punk trio heavily incorporates the brooding, twangy aesthetic of Southern gothic literature into their abrasive sound for their third album. Driven by a relentlessly thudding, drum-machine-like rhythm section and terrifyingly dark, squalling guitars, frontman Reid Bateh delivers incredibly vivid, highly violent spoken-word narratives. It was heavily championed as a terrifyingly intense, brilliantly cinematic evolution of modern noise rock.
