Album Notes & Community Reviews

At the absolute vanguard of the 'Black Rio' movement, this monumental instrumental debut synthesizes hard-hitting American funk and disco with indigenous Brazilian samba rhythms. Featuring incredibly tight brass sections and relentless, syncopated grooves, the band provided the definitive soundtrack for the burgeoning Afro-Brazilian civil rights and cultural pride movement. It is universally regarded as a masterpiece of Latin funk.
