Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing his highly successful leadership series for Contemporary Records, the exceptionally fluid, deeply blues-inflected guitarist navigates a sophisticated set of familiar pop melodies. Backed by elite West Coast rhythm section players including Shelly Manne, his pristine, Charlie Christian-inspired single-note runs flawlessly blend breezy Californian elegance with aggressive, bop-derived technical facility. The highly accessible, impeccably swinging recording firmly cemented his status as a premier instrumentalist of the era.
