Album Notes & Community Reviews

Exploding out of the Washington D.C. independent scene, Bartees Cox Jr. delivers an exhilarating, wildly genre-defying debut. The record seamlessly smashes together the stadium-sized indie rock of his youth with frantic post-punk, contemporary R&B, and experimental hip-hop production. It serves as a profound, ecstatic reclamation of Black artistry within historically white-dominated alternative rock spaces.
