On their seventh album '7', Beach House pivoted towards a darker, more sonically adventurous palette, expanding their dream-pop foundation with shoegaze and psychedelic textures. Aided by co-producer Sonic Boom, the duo abandoned limitations of live replication for a denser, more rhythmically propulsive sound, built from layered synths, distorted guitars, and live drums. Thematically, the album explores the disorienting nature of glamour and the beauty that arises from confronting darkness, reflecting a conscious creative rebirth for the band.
