Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark in classical recording history, this 1965 box set captures the Juilliard String Quartet traversing the intense, technically demanding terrain of B茅la Bart贸k's complete string quartets. The performance is widely lauded for its ferocious energy and precise handling of Bart贸k's abrasive dissonance and complex Hungarian folk rhythms. It remains a definitive reference standard for mid-century modern chamber music.
