Album Notes & Community Reviews
Firmly entrenching himself as a premier solo balladeer, 'Sings for Soulful Lovers' finds Ben E. King interpreting standard repertoire rather than Leiber and Stoller originals. The album utilizes lush, sweeping string arrangements to frame his pristine, highly emotive baritone, blurring the lines between traditional vocal pop and early R&B. It underscores his ambition to cross over completely into the adult contemporary market.
