Album Notes & Community Reviews
Placing a foundational giant of pre-war alto saxophone within a surprisingly modern context, this quintet date relies on crisp, lightly swinging arrangements. His famously elegant, immaculate tone and conceptually rigorous soloing prove exceptionally adaptable, blending seamlessly with a younger rhythm section deeply steeped in modern bop phraseology.
