Album Notes & Community Reviews
True to its title, 'Turning Point' finds saxophonist and legendary composer Benny Golson pivoting slightly away from the dense orchestrations of the Jazztet to lead a muscular hard bop quintet. Featuring an incredible front-line pairing with trumpeter Richard Williams, the album navigates highly sophisticated original charts with a fiery, aggressive swing. It is a deeply underrated highlight of his mid-career discography.
