Album Notes & Community Reviews
Attempting to bridge the gap between his foundational swing era roots and the rapid innovations of modern jazz, the 'King of Swing' leads an aggressive small group. 'Session for Six' finds Benny Goodman executing his famously clean, virtuosic clarinet lines over an explicitly bop-oriented rhythm section featuring musicians like Fats Navarro. It is a fascinating, high-energy transitional document in the bandleader's vast catalog.
