Album Notes & Community Reviews
Haitink was the first conductor to record Liszt's symphonic poems as a complete cycle, and the first to record the earliest of them, 'Ce qu'on entend sur la montagne', in stereo. Made with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and produced by Volker Straus, the recordings were issued as single LPs and gathered in a five-LP box, and the set has remained in the catalogue through successive reissues as 'Complete Symphonic Poems'.
