Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded entirely solo while he was simultaneously fronting the folk-jazz group Pentangle, the Scottish guitarist returned to his stark, unadorned acoustic roots. The album features a mix of breathtaking original instrumentals and somber interpretations of traditional English ballads, showcasing his phenomenally intricate, blues-inflected fingerpicking style. It is universally revered as a quiet, melancholic pinnacle of the British folk revival.
