The first half of a sprawling, two-part science fiction concept album, the North Carolina quintet explores a dystopian future where dreams are broadcast as entertainment. The record perfectly balances their frantic, highly technical progressive metal origins with sweeping, highly melodic rock interludes. It serves as a brilliantly paced, conceptually dense entry in their ambitious discography.
