Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking a transition towards more traditional R&B and soul influences, '4' showcases vocal growth and artistic independence following her separation from manager Mathew Knowles. The record heavily explores themes of female empowerment and monogamous love, backed by live instrumentation and funk-inspired brass arrangements.
